Log a glass of water in one tap
Logging has to be faster than the thought “I'll do it later”, or it does not happen. That is why the home screen is mostly four big buttons.
The cup buttons
Four cups sit under your companions: 150, 250, 350 and 500 ml to begin with. One tap logs that amount, the water level rises, your cat or tree reacts, and an Undo button appears for a moment in case you missed.
The sizes are yours to change — set them to the glass, mug and bottle you actually use, and logging becomes a single honest tap instead of arithmetic.
An amount that is not one of your cups
Tap + beside the cups and drag to the amount — 50 to 1,000 ml, in 50 ml steps. The sheet also has a time picker, so a glass you forgot earlier (or yesterday) goes in with the time it was really drunk.
Something other than water
Above the cups is a row of drinks: water, tea, coffee, milk, juice and soup. Pick one and the next tap is logged as that drink. They all count in full toward the goal — tea, coffee and milk hydrate about as well as water (Maughan et al., 2016). Alcohol is deliberately not on the list.
Without opening the app at all
- The buttons on a reminder: “💧 Drank 150ml” or “💧 Drank 250ml”.
- A Home Screen or Lock Screen widget.
- The Control Center button, which can also live on the Action button.
- Siri: “Log water in Sippy”.
- Your Apple Watch.
FAQ
- I tapped the wrong cup — can I undo it?
- Yes. An Undo button appears right after you log. If you notice later, Today’s log sits further down the same screen — tap the drink to correct it, or the × beside it to remove it.
- Can I log a drink for earlier in the day?
- Yes. Tap + and set the time in the sheet before you save it — it reaches back a week, so yesterday evening is covered too.
- Does the app have to be open for the widget button to work?
- No. The widget logs the drink in place and redraws itself; the app stays closed.
Sippy is a reminder and a record of what you drink, not medical advice. Its suggested goal follows published guidance for healthy adults, and the app is for ages 14 and up. If you have heart, kidney or liver disease, low blood sodium, take diuretics, or have been told to limit fluids, ask your doctor before setting a goal.
Drink water, grow cute cats
Sippy nudges you only when you are behind, logs a glass in one tap from the Lock Screen, and grows a cat farm — or a tiny forest — as the goal days add up. Free, no ads, and nothing leaves your iPhone.
