Change the cup sizes on the home screen
Sippy starts with 150, 250, 350 and 500 ml. They are reasonable defaults and almost certainly not your glasses.
Set them to what you actually drink from
- Open Settings and find “Cup sizes”.
- Each of the four has a − and a +. They move in 50 ml steps, from 50 ml to 1,500 ml.
- Measure once if you are not sure: fill your usual glass from a measuring jug, and use that number.
- Go back to Today — the buttons are already the new sizes.
A sensible set
- Your espresso or tea cup, for the small one.
- Your everyday glass.
- Your mug.
- Your bottle — the whole thing, so one tap covers it.
They change your reminders too
The two buttons on every reminder use your two smallest cup sizes. Set those to amounts you really drink in one go and the Lock Screen becomes an honest one-tap log.
For anything else
Tap + on the Today screen and type the millilitres. It does not disturb your four cups.
FAQ
- Can I have more than four cups?
- No — four buttons keep the screen one glance wide. The + button covers everything else.
- Are the sizes in ounces?
- Sippy works in millilitres throughout. 250 ml is a little over 8 fl oz; 500 ml is about 17.
- Do the widgets use my cup sizes?
- Yes. The small Home Screen widget logs your second cup; the medium one has three buttons — your first, second and fourth. The Control Center button and Siri log a standard 250 ml instead, so they stay predictable.
Sippy is a reminder and a record of what you drink, not medical advice. Its suggested goal follows published guidance for healthy adults, and the app is for ages 14 and up. If you have heart, kidney or liver disease, low blood sodium, take diuretics, or have been told to limit fluids, ask your doctor before setting a goal.
Drink water, grow cute cats
Sippy nudges you only when you are behind, logs a glass in one tap from the Lock Screen, and grows a cat farm — or a tiny forest — as the goal days add up. Free, no ads, and nothing leaves your iPhone.
