Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets
A widget does two jobs: it shows how the day is going without opening anything, and it puts a log button where you will actually see it.
Add one to the Home Screen
- Touch and hold an empty part of the Home Screen until the icons wobble.
- Tap + in the corner and search for Sippy.
- Swipe between the small and medium sizes and tap Add.
- Tap Done. The widget fills in as soon as it has today's figures.
Add one to the Lock Screen
- Touch and hold the Lock Screen and tap Customise, then Lock Screen.
- Tap the widget area under the clock.
- Choose Sippy — a circular ring, or a rectangular bar with the figures.
- Tap Done.
Which to pick
- Small: your companion, today's progress, and one button that logs your second cup size.
- Medium: the same with three buttons — your first, second and fourth cups.
- Lock Screen circular: a progress ring, at a glance.
- Lock Screen rectangular: progress with the numbers.
The buttons log in place
Tapping one records the drink without opening Sippy: the widget redraws, the day replans, and your Watch and Apple Health keep up. The Lock Screen widgets show progress rather than buttons — iOS does not allow buttons there.
FAQ
- The widget shows yesterday's figures.
- Widgets refresh on the system's schedule. Tapping a log button or opening the app refreshes it straight away.
- Can I change which cup a widget button logs?
- Indirectly — the buttons follow your cup sizes in Settings.
- Why is there no button on the Lock Screen widget?
- iOS Lock Screen widgets cannot have buttons. For a one-tap log from a locked phone, use Control Center or the Action button.
Sippy is a reminder and a record of what you drink, not medical advice. Its suggested goal follows published guidance for healthy adults, and the app is for ages 14 and up. If you have heart, kidney or liver disease, low blood sodium, take diuretics, or have been told to limit fluids, ask your doctor before setting a goal.
Drink water, grow cute cats
Sippy nudges you only when you are behind, logs a glass in one tap from the Lock Screen, and grows a cat farm — or a tiny forest — as the goal days add up. Free, no ads, and nothing leaves your iPhone.
