Why reminders stop before bed
Drinking a large glass right before bed is a reliable way to wake up at 3 a.m., and losing sleep is a bad trade for a full progress ring.
The quiet window
Sippy schedules nothing in the last two hours before the bedtime you set. Advice to cut fluids shortly before sleep is standard from continence and sleep clinics, and the same window also stops the app from pushing you into a last-minute litre.
If that leaves you short most evenings, the fix is earlier in the day, not later: move the extra reminder into the stretch where your own history shows you drink least.
When the day rolls over
For most people the day changes at midnight. If you go to bed after midnight, Sippy moves the cut-off to halfway between your bedtime and your wake-up, so the glass you drink at 00:30 still counts for the evening it belongs to rather than starting tomorrow at nothing.
Set your hours
- Open Settings and find “Daily schedule”.
- Set “Wake up” and “Bedtime” to the times you actually keep.
- Those two times decide three things: how your goal is spread across the day, when reminders stop, and when the day rolls over.
FAQ
- Can I make the quiet window shorter?
- Not directly — it is fixed at two hours. Moving your bedtime later in Settings moves the window with it, but keep it honest or the day will roll over at the wrong time.
- I work nights. Does this still work?
- Yes. Set wake and bed times to the hours you actually keep; everything else follows them.
- Does a drink after midnight count for yesterday?
- If your bedtime is after midnight, yes — up to the cut-off halfway between bedtime and wake-up.
Sippy is a reminder and a record of what you drink, not medical advice. Its suggested goal follows published guidance for healthy adults, and the app is for ages 14 and up. If you have heart, kidney or liver disease, low blood sodium, take diuretics, or have been told to limit fluids, ask your doctor before setting a goal.
Drink water, grow cute cats
Sippy nudges you only when you are behind, logs a glass in one tap from the Lock Screen, and grows a cat farm — or a tiny forest — as the goal days add up. Free, no ads, and nothing leaves your iPhone.
