Gentle or Normal: how often you are reminded
How much reminding you want is personal, and getting it wrong in either direction costs you: too few and you forget, too many and you stop reading them.
Pick a level
- Open Settings and find “Reminders”.
- Under “How often”, choose “Gentle · about 4 a day” or “Normal · about 7 a day”.
- On Gentle, Sippy keeps the wake-up and meal nudges first and uses what is left for pace check-ins, so the ones you do get are the useful ones.
The extras
- “One more reminder” adds a single nudge at a time you choose, every day — handy for the mid-afternoon dip.
- “Remind before meals” can be turned off on its own if 30 minutes before breakfast is not your idea of a good time.
- The master switch, “Water reminders”, stops everything without touching your log, your companions or your streak.
Which to choose
Start on Normal for the first couple of weeks, while the habit is new; a nudge you do not need costs you a glance. Once logging feels automatic, Gentle keeps the app out of your way without giving up the morning and mealtime anchors.
FAQ
- Does Gentle mean I will miss my goal more often?
- Not necessarily — Gentle keeps the routine anchors and drops some of the pace check-ins. If you find yourself behind in the evenings, switch back for a while.
- Can I turn reminders off but keep the app?
- Yes. Turn “Water reminders” off; logging, companions, stats and widgets all carry on.
- Will I get the same message every time?
- No. The pace nudges rotate through a set of lines written for your companion, so the same one does not arrive twice in a row.
Sippy is a reminder and a record of what you drink, not medical advice. Its suggested goal follows published guidance for healthy adults, and the app is for ages 14 and up. If you have heart, kidney or liver disease, low blood sodium, take diuretics, or have been told to limit fluids, ask your doctor before setting a goal.
Drink water, grow cute cats
Sippy nudges you only when you are behind, logs a glass in one tap from the Lock Screen, and grows a cat farm — or a tiny forest — as the goal days add up. Free, no ads, and nothing leaves your iPhone.
