How a new cat or tree is born
The reward loop is slow on purpose. Something that arrives every day stops meaning anything by the second week; something a month away is worth coming back for.
The rule
Reach your full goal on thirty days and a new cat or sapling is born. Not thirty in a row — thirty in total, counted for as long as you have had the app. A missed day costs you nothing but that day.
How they grow
- Only the newest companion is growing; everyone born before it is already an adult.
- It is a newborn for the first seven goal days of its cycle, half-grown until the twentieth, and an adult from then until the next one arrives.
- The farm shows how many goal days are left before the next newborn.
What they are born with
- A name from Sippy's pool, which follows the language your iPhone is in. Rename it whenever you like.
- A coat — one of sixteen for cats, five of them rare. About one newborn in seven is a rare one.
- A personality: cuddly, playful, lazy, shy or foodie, which shows in how it moves and how it reacts when you touch it.
Nobody dies
This is the promise the whole app is built on. Companions never die, never run away and are never taken from you. Forget for a week and they look a little droopy and send one or two gentle check-ins; come back and everything is where you left it.

- Does half a goal count toward a new companion?
- No. Half the goal keeps your streak, but a newborn needs full goal days.
- Is there a limit to how many I can have?
- No. The farm keeps filling up — a year of goal days is a dozen companions.
- What happens to them if I switch from cats to trees?
- They become trees, keeping their names, birthdays and your progress. Switch back and they are cats again.
Sippy is a reminder and a record of what you drink, not medical advice. Its suggested goal follows published guidance for healthy adults, and the app is for ages 14 and up. If you have heart, kidney or liver disease, low blood sodium, take diuretics, or have been told to limit fluids, ask your doctor before setting a goal.
