Back up, and move to a new iPhone
Keeping everything on the device is the privacy promise; the price is that moving house is something you do yourself. It takes about a minute.
Make a backup
- Open Settings and tap “Backup & restore”.
- Tap to create a backup. It contains your profile and settings, every drink you have logged, and all your companions with their names, coats and outfits.
- The share sheet opens. Save it to Files, iCloud Drive, AirDrop it, or email it to yourself.
Restore it on the new iPhone
- Install Sippy and go through the short onboarding.
- Open Settings › Backup & restore and choose the file.
- Confirm. Everything in the app is replaced by what is in the backup.
Restoring replaces, it does not merge
Whatever is in the app at the time is swapped for the backup's contents. Anything logged since the backup was made is not kept, so make a fresh one just before you move.
If Apple Health sync is on, Sippy also tidies Health: its own exports that are not in the backup are removed there too, so the two do not drift apart. Water that came from Health is left alone and imported again.
Keep the file somewhere safe
It is an ordinary file on your device, protected by iOS file encryption, and it holds your drinking history. Once you have saved it, where it lives is up to you — treat it the way you would any personal document.
FAQ
- Does an iPhone-to-iPhone transfer bring Sippy across?
- Apple's own device transfer and an encrypted iTunes/Finder backup carry app data. iCloud Backup usually does too — but take a Sippy backup as well, since it is the only copy you control.
- Does PRO move with me?
- Yes. Tap Restore Purchases on the new phone, signed in with the same Apple Account.
- Can I merge two phones' histories?
- No — restoring replaces. Pick the device with the history you want to keep.
Sippy is a reminder and a record of what you drink, not medical advice. Its suggested goal follows published guidance for healthy adults, and the app is for ages 14 and up. If you have heart, kidney or liver disease, low blood sodium, take diuretics, or have been told to limit fluids, ask your doctor before setting a goal.
Drink water, grow cute cats
Sippy nudges you only when you are behind, logs a glass in one tap from the Lock Screen, and grows a cat farm — or a tiny forest — as the goal days add up. Free, no ads, and nothing leaves your iPhone.
